It’s no secret that designer Nony Tochterman knows how to ash on a good show, but on Oct. 20, she tried she also knows how to throw a good party. See in your mind's eye 800 people attended her “Alice In Wonderland”–themed photo shoot obstruct, held on the closing evening of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week insensible Smashbox Studios.
A sound stage at Century Studios provided ample make ready and a “within walking distance” proximity to the photo studio–cum–runway venue. The event was held in cooperation with Disney Consumer Products to showcase Tochterman’s Spring ’06 collection. The sound tier was transformed into “Petro Zillia”–land with fantasy sitting areas, outsize mushrooms and flowers, and the classic Disney feature film protruding onto a wall.
Attendees watched Tochterman and hair and makeup stylists create high-fashion looks for both her ready-to-wear collection and couture pieces based on characters from the film. Davis Factor, co-owner of Smashbox Studios, then conducted photo shoots on two magical-themed sets while the audience viewed the results on a high-tech digital screen. —N. Jayne Seward
